Pitstop Challenge

On Your Marks, Get Set, Go! Pit Stop Challenge is a fun, competitive team activity, culminating in an exciting race finale. Teams must plan, build, test and finally race their own 'vehicle' around a specially laid out track. Slide into the fast lane with Pit Stop Challenge and test your planning, problem solving and building expertise.

What is it?

A dynamic and exciting competitive team bonding activity based on the world of F1 motor racing. Design, construct and race a man-powered prototype vehicle to victory. Who will make the chequered flag first?

How does it work?

Within the allotted time teams plan, build, test, and finally prepare their prototype vehicle for a racing finale.

In Pit Stop, delegates act as part of F1 racing teams. Being briefed on the challenge, the teams separate to allocated pit areas. Roles including pit crew, mechanics and designers are assigned to team members.

Each team is allocated a budget and supplied with a set of standard vehicle parts, though there will also be various other parts distributed which differ between teams.

To finish the vehicles' construction, teams buy parts and components from a workshop. If teams are feeling strapped for cash and unable to complete their machines, mental puzzles and challenges may be solved to gain extra funds. In addition, to 'jazz up' their creations a design studio will offer branding, livery and cosmetic parts - for a price of course!

To acquire required parts and materials, teams can barter and exchange with each other. Negotiation with other teams can also be applied for the use of important parts and tools.

The Finale

When the building is over and the test runs completed, the race for the chequered flag begins!

Racing overalls, crash helmets, sound effects and music are used during the event to create a genuine racing atmosphere. The teams' vehicles take to our specially made track and tear away from the starting grid in a test of design performance.

After a homemade prototype winner is established, medals can be awarded in true Grand Prix style - on a winner's rostrum.

However, to show that winning the race isn't everything, there will also be other prizes on offer - these can include 'best use of budget', 'most stylish design' or 'weirdest looking vehicle'!
