Devil’s Kitchen
A fast tempo, high pressure cooking challenge designed to ‘whisk’ teams into shape.
What is it?
Take 200 grams of team work. Next, slowly stir in 15 grams of communication and some freshly picked project management skills. Then allow the temperature and tension to increase and simmer for several hours.
Garnish with a sprig of shared achievement and serve immediately.
How does it work?
Devil’s Kitchen creates a pressurised environment ideal for testing and developing collaborative abilities. With the temperature rising, only effective team work and well utilised communication skills will enable teams to serve up success.
After donning their chef whites, aprons and hats, the teams are briefed on the day’s task. With help and advice from a professional chef, the teams’ challenge is to put together a prize-winning three course meal in a strict time limit.
Devil’s Kitchen is highly flexible and can be run with customised formats or features depending on your audience, time frame and objectives.
Example Format
The teams are required to plan and execute an entire dining experience. In addition to cooking the food, team members work together to plan the menu, select the appropriate wine and prepare, decorate and lay the table.
The professional chef will give the whole group a quick demonstration of the types of cooking skills they could employ. The preparation then begins under the watchful eye of the chef.
With tight deadlines enforced for each course, as well as receiving help and advice, the teams will be under intense scrutiny by the chef and his/her team of instructors.
When the final plates are ready to be served, judges (which could include the chef and some of your senior executives) pass comment on the dishes before announcing the team that has impressed them the most.
After the winning team is declared, the whole group can finally relax and sit down to feast on their culinary concoctions.
