5000 Miles to Graceland
A murder mystery with a musical twist, where those with suitably suspicious minds can work together to apprehend the devil in disguise.
What is it?
5000 Miles to Graceland is a crime adventure set against a rock and roll backdrop of an Elvis Presley convention. Faced with an array of dilemmas and shady characters, budding detectives should piece together clues and pinpoint prime suspects to catch the killer of The King.
An evening of musical entertainment and investigative team action to leave everyone 'all shook up'.
How does it work?
When a body is discovered during an Elvis convention, initial forensic tests reveal a near identical match to the real Elvis Presley. The building is put on 'lock-down' and all guests are confined until the police force, led by renowned inspector Elroy O'Presley, arrives.
The inspector announces the crime and leads the investigation, asking the guests to conduct their own examinations of the situation, though to blend in with the surroundings and not scare the perpetrator into running the guests are asked to wear Elvis-based accessories.
A host of main character suspects are present at the convention including female Elvis, Vegas Elvis, Chinese Elvis and young Elvis. One of these characters is thought to have killed the real Elvis. Some of these characters are also authentic tribute artists and perform songs at various points throughout the event.
The guests' game play is to investigate the different character suspects and arrive at conclusions as to who has a motive to murder, and who had an opportunity.
Guests are able explore the venue to locate clues which could include possible murder weapons. They can construct theories by questioning suspects and studying timings, alibis and eye witness reports. Inspector O'Presley can also reveal exhibits and evidence during the evening to assist the rookie sleuths.
5000 Miles to Graceland can be tackled as individuals, in several teams, as the group as a whole or as a combination of all three throughout the evening. The event can also be run as the central entertainment to a dinner party, with clues and information revealed to the guests after each course alongside performances from the tribute acts.
At the end of the event, inspector O'Presley will wrap up the plot in the denouement - summarising the different theories arrived at by the teams; revealing why some are right and some are wrong, and finally concluding by exposing the awful truth behind the crime, with the culprit set for a long stint staring at jailhouse rock...
